The Port Arthur Ski Club supports both the Nancy Greene Ski League and Mount Baldy Ski Team at Mount Baldy Ski Area in Thunder Bay.    You may contact Cathy Wood at mtbaldyprograms@tbaytel.net  or Mount Baldy Ski Area at (807) 683-8441 www.skimountbaldy.ca for more information about our programs.  New Club members are always welcome!

 NANCY GREENE SKI LEAGUE

The emphasis of our Nancy Greene Ski League is on FUN, participation, and skill development.  Children are grouped together according to ability and age. The “Husky Snow Stars” is used as a guideline in program planning and delivery.  Our NGSL is best suited to kids who can ride the chairlift independently (approximately 5 or 6 years) to 12 years, and to kids working on the equivalent of Levels 1 through 4 of the “Husky Snow Stars”.  One, two and three days training per week is available.  Christmas and March Break Camps are also available.  Helmets are mandatory.

Partial and/or Recreational Program

Partial programs can be tailored to meet individual needs based on time commitments and goals for participation.  Some individuals choose to compete recreationally or on a part-time basis, some choose to improve their skills for future instructor and/or coach courses, and others simply want to become more skilled free skiers in a team setting.  Minimum commitment is one day per week.  Helmets are mandatory.

Full and Competitive Program

This program is for those willing to commit to a training plan exceeding 150 coach hours on snow.  Most in the full program choose to compete in local and regional National Points Races.  Travel opportunities for camps and competition are available but optional.  Most participants in the full program have skills equivalent to Husky Snow Stars Level 4 or higher, however, this is a guideline only and the head coach reserves the right to determine appropriate program placement for each individual.  Dryland Training is mandatory for full program participants.  Helmets are mandatory.
