LSDA MIELE FIS RACE SERIES
THE CAN-AM SUPERIOR CUP SERIES

This International series will comprise of 6 FIS Slaloms and 6 GS (2USSA, 2 FIS & 2 FIS ENL) events. Venues will include the Marquette Mid Am, Lutsen / Spirit Mid Am and Loch Lomond FIS events in Thunder Bay Ontario Febuary 18-21, 2011. Overall awards will be determined utilizing World cup points scored. The best 4 of 6 slalom + best 4 of 6 GS Mid Am Cup points (8 results, 4 throwouts) will be totaled for the series. Best Results will break ties. The Marquette and Lutsen / Spirit events will be scored as a Mid Am and as part of the Can Am Superior Cup series.
The Loch Lomond FIS events (Not a Mid Am) are in Canada and USA athletes will need to use the National Meet Entry form with their club. The deadline for intent is TBA. See – Out of Division Racing Section of the USA rule book for details. USSA will have a special quota of 100 men & 100 Women for this Canadian event.

LSDA Miele FIS Race Series Recap 2010
The LSDA Miele FIS Series was 4 super days of ski racing which started with a sunny day of GS racing followed by 2 slalom days and then was wrapped up on Monday with Mindy Blumberg of Thunder Bay winning the women’s 2nd GS race which broke Victoria McVicker of Michigan winning streak. Canadian Michael Tichy won the 3 of the 4 men’s’ races.
All of the racing action took place at Loch Lomond Ski Area on a superb race run known as The Giant. The run is steep and fast along with great hard snow which provided a challenge for all of the athletes. Competing athlete’s from Ontario, Manitoba, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Australia came to race on The Giant.
This Miele FIS series also is a part of an international series called the Cam Am Superior Cup Series which was comprised of 6 FIS Slaloms and 6 FIS Giant Slaloms events. Venues included Marquette MI, Lutsen MN, Spirit Mt.- Duluth, MN and Loch Lomond in Thunder Bay. Overall series winners were based on World Cup Points scored. The winners for the Can Am Superior Cup Series were Michael Tichy (Can) and Victoria McVicker (Usa).
Brewster McVicker, USSA Central competition manager entertained all spectators, volunteers and racers with his daily commentated on the athletes and their race standings of the series along with interview from athletes , coaches and officials.
Special thanks goes to the 200 plus volunteers who rallied together to make this event a great success and a wonderful positive experience for all who participated in it. Thank you to all of the USA athletes, coaches and volunteers who continually support this event.
